While Ruth and Rebecca had the advantage of a contemporary boating vessel and a better season than inadequate Sir Shackle ton selected, their journey was not without risk. “We were in a 246-passenger vessel when we began getting hit by surf 45 legs great and gusts of wind weighing 60 troubles,” Ruth remembers. “It rocked us returning and forth like you would not believe.”
But your way was well value it. “It was a spiritual encounter,” Rebecca says. “You just cannot explain it. The genuine whiteness of it. It was awesome. And while no one lifestyle down there, it’s awesome the quantity of lifestyle we saw there.”
“Although,” she says after a stop. “I do not ever want to see another penguin again. They are so lovely, but there is just so many of them. Sacred Moses.”
Ruth confirms. “There was this otherworldly experience to it, all enclosed by these big red icebergs. It’s like it was not actual.”

And Antarctica was – if people will reason the pun – only the tip of the iceberg on this trip.
